The French actor said he’s broke and had to sell his last expensive watch, a Rolex, for $10,000 to hire a new lawyer after his former lawyers quit.

But Halle denied his request. The attorney said Halle’s refusal to pay her ex’s legal fees was denying [Olivier’s] access to justice.
His lawyer argued that “[Olivier] has been asking [Halle] for months to make an attorney fee contribution as he does not have sufficient funds to pay his counsel. She has refused this request, despite the fact that [Halle] is admittedly earning several millions of dollars at this time, and likely more given her new movie about to be released.”
“She has fought [Olivier] aggressively, choosing the most expensive manner of dispute resolution — through the Court system, refusing continuances and foregoing hearings that she admittedly believes would waste resources,” the lawyer wrote in court papers.
Olivier and Halle split after 3 years of marriage. Their divorce dragged on for years until Halle agreed to pay Olivier $8,000 a month in child support. Both agreed to attend coparenting therapy. But Halle complained that Olivier stopped showing up. She asked the court to force him to attend the therapy sessions for their son’s sake.
Halle, 58, asked the court to award her sole legal custody.
The actress claimed she spent over $200,000, including $55,000 paid to Olivier’s former lawyers.
