Sean Combs Breaks Silence Amid Video Backlash: ‘I’m Sorry’

Update: One of Cassie’s attorneys, Meredith Firetog, issued a statement in response to Sean Combs’ video post:

“Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt. When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday. That he was only compelled to ‘apologize’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words.”

Sean Combs apologized and begged for forgiveness in a video posted on his Instagram page on Sunday.

Combs acknowledged kicking and stomping his former girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura in a hotel surveillance video from 2016.

Cassie sued Combs for $30 million in November. He settled the lawsuit a day later, while vigorously denying the allegations.

But in a come to Jesus moment on Sunday, Combs admitted, “I f***ed up.”

“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that,” he said. “I was f***ed up. I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video, I’m disgusted.”

In her lawsuit, Cassie said Combs paid the InterContinental hotel $50,000 to keep the video from coming out. Combs suggested he only paid the money due to shame and regret.

“I was disgusted then when I did it and I’m disgusted now,” he explained. “I went and I sought out professional help, started going to therapy and rehab, had to ask god for his mercy and grace,” he said.

But Cassie claims the beatings continued until she managed to leave him for good.

In a social media post on May 17, Cassie’s husband, Alex Fine responded to the video, saying, real men don’t hit women.

“As men violence against women shouldn’t be inevitable, check your brothers, your friends, and your family,” Fine wrote. “Our daughters, sisters, mothers, and wives should feel protected and loved. Hold the women in your life with the upmost regard. Men who hurt women hate women.”

He continued: “To the abusers, you’re done, you’re not safe anymore, you’re not protected anymore, the men by your side are just as weak, you’re so miserable with yourself that d__th would be considered a kindness.”
