“In a significant legal triumph, Nipsey Hussle’s mother, brother, and sister have been granted control of the estate for the late rapper’s daughter, defeating his ex-girlfriend Tanisha Foster in court.”
In court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, a recent hearing in the ongoing legal battle between Nipsey’s family and Tanisha over the 14-year-old Emani revealed that the judge has decided Nipsey’s mother, Angelique, his brother, Sam, and sister, Samantha, will serve as co-guardians responsible for overseeing Emani’s finances, including her inheritance valued at over $2 million.
Nipsey tragically lost his life on March 31, 2019, leaving behind Emani and a son named Kross, whom he had with his girlfriend Lauren London. The sole beneficiaries of the musician’s estate were his two children.
Sam, Nipsey’s brother, was entrusted with managing the rapper’s estate, which was assessed at $4 million. Sam anticipates that the estate will generate an additional $4.7 million annually.
After Nipsey’s passing, the responsibility of physical custody for Emani was granted to his mother, Angelique Smith, his brother, Sam, and his sister, Samantha. The family contended that Tanisha was not in a suitable position to care for the child.
In August 2021, Nipsey’s family submitted a petition seeking appointment as guardians of Emani’s estate, which would grant them the authority to oversee her inheritance and make financial investments on her behalf.
Their petition contended, “Appointing the Petitioners as Guardians of Emani’s Estate will enable them to manage Emani’s portion of the anticipated inheritance from her father’s estate.”
The filing further stated, “The Petitioners will exercise responsible asset management on Emani’s behalf, always considering her best interests, until she reaches the age of 18.”
Tanisha opposed the petition, urging the court to reject the request and grant her control over Emani’s estate, as well as regain custody of her.
