Surveillance video shows Telemundo sports reporter Adan Manzano in the final moments before he was last seen alive.
Manzano, 27, was last seen with career criminal Danette Colbert in the early hours of February 5 at the Comfort Suites Hotel in Kenner.
The video, obtained by DailyMail.com, shows Manzano and Colbert returning to his hotel room around 4:35 am. Manzano was carrying a white plastic bag. Colbert glanced up at the surveillance camera before they entered his room.
Kenner police said Colbert left the room twice to go to the reception desk in the hotel lobby. She asked for a room key card before returning to the room.
Colbert, 48, left the room for a final time just before 6 am.
Manzano was in New Orleans to cover Super Bowl 59. His Telemundo colleagues called police to conduct a welfare check when he didn’t show up for work on Feb. 6.
Officers found Manzano deceased in his hotel room.
Police contacted his bank to track his credit cards and discovered Colbert using the credit cards at several retail stores. She was arrested on Feb. 7.
Colbert had a lengthy history of drugging and robbing tourists. None of her previous victims died from the drugging.
At the time of her arrest, she was on probation for a 2021 drugging and robbery case in New Orleans.
She pleaded guilty to drugging David Butler and stealing around $134,000 from him, according to The New Orleans Advocate.
Butler, 52, said he asked for prison time for Colbert. But she was released back on the streets with just probation.
“This tragic outcome likely could have been prevented had Colbert been sentenced appropriately in my case, especially given her extensive criminal history,” Butler said.
Investigators are awaiting toxicology test results to determine Manzano’s cause of death. Colbert is charged with credit card fraud and trespassing. She is being held in jail without bond.
