Sean Combs Denied Bail, Will Remain in Detention Until Trial

Sean Combs will remain in federal detention for at least a year pending his criminal trial. Combs was taken into custody by federal agents from Homeland Security at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan on Monday, Sept. 16.

Combs’ legal team proposed a $50 million bond secured by the equity in his Miami mansion, which is appraised at $48 million.

The bond would also be secured by the equity of Mr. Combs’ mother’s home located at 450 Alton Road in Miami.

Judge Robyn Tarnofsky said on Tuesday that Combs had a supportive family, but she could not release him on bond.

The judge said the lawyer’s request for bond was denied and pretrial home monitoring was denied.

Judge Tarnofsky told him her concern is “this is a crime that happens behind closed doors, even when pretrial services is monitoring.”

The judge told Combs there were no conditions she could find to assure her that he would appear in court if released.

After the judge made her ruling, Combs took a sip out of water out of a bottle before being led out of the courtroom.

According to a federal indictment unsealed on Tuesday, Combs was hit with charges of sex trafficking by force, transportation to engage in prostitution, racketeering conspiracy, and arson.

Combs pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnofilo, said he would appeal the no bond ruling. Agnifilo said the bail appeal will be held in front of a different judge on Wednesday in the same courtroom.
