Kate Middleton Confirms She Has Cancer, Undergoing Chemo

Kate Middleton confirmed rumors that she has cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

The Princess of Wales announced her cancer diagnosis in a video that aired Friday on the BBC.

Kate, 42, underwent major abdominal surgery in January. She said tests showed “cancer had been present.”

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous,” Kate said in the video.

“However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.”

Kate said the news came as a “huge shock.” She added that she and husband Prince William are handling the news “privately for the sake of our young family.”

Kate and Prince William, 41, share three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and 5-year-old Prince Louis.

“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment,” Kate said. “But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK.”

The news comes a month after Buckingham Palace reported King Charles was diagnosed with cancer. His cancer was discovered after he underwent surgery on his prostate in January.

In Touch reported that the 75-year-old Monarch was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and only has 2 years to live.

Kate and King Charles are both fully vaccinated.

Kate has been spotted out and about several times, since an altered Mother’s Day photo fueled death rumors.

Kate and Prince William were most recently spotted at the Farm Shop in Windsor.

Correction: Some media outlets are reporting Kate has ovarian cancer. That has not been confirmed.
