Being a celebrity comes with its perks. But the life of a star is not an easy one. And while being the offspring of one may have its benefits, it also has a dark side. Sadly, social media can be a cruel place, and Cori Broadus, daughter to entertainer Snoop Dogg, has been feeling the downsides as of late. She’s created her own life and lane for herself despite being the famous rapper’s daughter. But more haters’ comments continue to pour in over the details of her love life.
Although 23 years old, Cori Broadus has already lived quite an experienced life. She was born on June 22, 1999, to Snoop Dogg (real name Calvin Broadus Jr.) and his wife, Shante Taylor, and is the couple’s youngest child. Cori Broadus faced battles early on in her life. At just 6 years old, she was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Lupus. She shared the information with her followers on Instagram in May of 2021, as she’s grown accustomed to being vulnerable with her supporters. According to Broadus, she was prescribed steroids because of the diagnosis, which affected her weight. “People looked at me like I was an alien,” Cori Broadus told her followers in the 36-minute video. She went on to detail her experience with the disease and how it physically affected her body.
Snoop Dogg also spoke on his daughter’s tough battles growing up, admitting to PEOPLE that he felt “helpless.” But through it all, he described Cori as the “toughest little thing I’ve ever met.” In addition, the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper shared her stellar academic and athletic achievements. “In the beginning, lupus was winning. But now Cori is,” he said.
Snoop Dogg isn’t lying. Cori Broadus has taken life and made the best of it. She is the CEO of “CHOC Factory,” a company she founded with her boyfriend, Wayne Deuce, that targets body positivity and self-love. According to Splash Magazines, Broadus held a launch party at the beginning of October of last year. Another thing that she addressed was the perception that people have of celebrity children. In the Instagram Live video, Cori Broadus also shared that she currently drives a Toyota Corolla that her father bought her. Initially, she admits to questioning Snoop’s choice of car for her. However, she considered that she was driving her boyfriend’s car before possessing the Corolla. “You just learn to appreciate stuff because, at the end of the day, this stuff don’t matter,” said Cori Broadus.
Much like her father, Cori Broadus possesses the gift of music. The world got to experience her first musical offering when she was 12 years old. On August 9, 2011, her first single called “Do My Thang” was released under the stage name “Cori B.” Her next single, “SMH,” followed that November.
Snoop Dogg joined Cori on her next song, “Daddy’s Girl.” The music video for the song currently has over 1 million views on Youtube. But it would be 4 years until her next single, “Outside,” was released. That same year, in 2016, she dropped the single “Sittin’ In My Room.” Finally, in 2018, Cori Broadus began to release music under a new stage name. CHOC was born, and the singles “Same,” “New Phone, Who Dis,” and “Love Me For Me” were released. That single was described as an uplifting song that encouraged women to embrace themselves fully. Then in 2019, she released the song “Party Favorz,” and most recently, she collaborated with Dimps on the “Gina and Pam Freestyle.”
As mentioned before, Cori Broadus is happily in love with her boyfriend, Wayne Duece. While not much information has been given on the couple’s beginnings, they alerted the world via social media in 2019 that they were together and celebrating their first anniversary. Cori Broadus and Wayne Duece often share moments of their relationship on their respective social media platforms. However, many people have often taken time out of their day to express that Broadus’s boyfriend only chose to be with her because she is Snoop’s daughter.
But Wayne Duece doesn’t seem to shy away from expressing his love for his girlfriend. On her 23rd birthday in June, he shared a slide of photos from moments they’d shared and wrote an emotional, heartfelt post to his “beautiful princess.” “I don’t think y’all understand my love for this girl,” Duece exclaimed. “I love waking up to you everyday, and you being my best friend, you being my dog baby mama, my business partner, and my soul mate, and I wouldn’t change nothing about it.” He also shared a post in May of the two performing together. Wayne Duece captioned how proud of Broadus that he was. In another post, he shows a series of stunning photos he creatively directed for his girlfriend.
Life’s constant vicissitudes caused many heavy moments for Cori Broadus. At times, she even considered taking her own life, which she admitted during her Instagram Live conversation. Broadus shared her mental health struggles that caused her dreadful thoughts. According to the young artist and businesswoman, the issues stemmed from the bullying she’d faced as a child, along with wondering why she was “chocolate” and her brothers were lighter-skinned. But she eventually grew to love and become comfortable in her skin. Taking to Instagram, as reported by Atlanta Black Star, she confessed her past struggles as a darker-skinned woman and then shared how she’d healed. Broadus then went on to encourage other women to embrace their beauty.
Once their relationship became public, there were many supportive comments for the couple. But, on the flip side, the criticism and bullying also poured in. Cori Broadus recently slammed haters who continually speak against her relationship in a series of now-deleted Instagram Stories.
However, that hasn’t stopped people from being mean on social media. One person took the time to comment that she is “kinda ug ah lee.” Another wrote, “It would be different if you was fine….but you not. He definitely with u cause Snoop your dad and that’s gone be most of the [men]she get ain’t nothing wrong with it tho. [Shoot] use your clout.” Ultimately, people should mind their business and leave Cori Broadus and her relationship alone!
