Tasha Smith (left) will replace Theresa Randle as Martin Lawrence’s wife in Bad Boys 4.
The casting change was first reported by Variety on Wednesday. Tasha, best known for her roles in Tyler Perry films, will play Theresa Burnett, the wife of Martin Lawrence’s character, Marcus Burnett.
The 52-year-old actress replaces Theresa Randle, 58, who played the role in the previous three films. Insiders say Theresa retired from acting, and she wasn’t offered a big enough financial, incentive to come out of retirement.
In addition to starring in Tyler Perry films, Tasha had a role in the FOX drama series “Empire,” and in HBO’s Emmy-winning series “The Corner.”
Bad Boys 4 is currently filming on location in Atlanta, Ga. The original Bad Boys earned $141 million.
The sequel in 2003 totaled over $273 million in box office receipts. But Bad Boys for Life (2020) outgrossed both films with a combined total of $426.5 million.

Martin dished on his upcoming film at his recent Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. “Wait till y’all see this one. Might even be bigger than all of them. You gotta check it out,” he said.
