Plugging in gadgets that use a lot of power or overloading the power strip can actually break things. It can damage home goods, knock out power, and even start fires! How do I say that?

I only said that because it was true for me. Because of that, I’ve been very careful about what I do since then… Find out 9 things that you should never put into a power strip.

First, take a look at how much power the power strip can handle.
Before I tell you what electrical items you shouldn’t plug in, there’s one thing you need to know. The power cord for every power strip shows how much power it can handle at its peak.

Reading this is the first thing you should do before putting in your electronics. Then it’s very easy. Each thing that is put into the power strip needs to have its own power added.

Tell me how I can find out how much power this or that thing has.

Yes, this information is put on every electrical item, just like it is on the power strip. I’ll show you an actual case. Let’s say that the most power that your power strip can handle is 3500 W. To use your oven, which needs 2500 W, you must plug it in. Your hoover uses 800 W and your kettle uses 250 W. You have more than 3500 W, which is 2500 + 800 + 250 = 3550 W. In this case, there is only one way to solve the problem.

If you unplug one of the electronics from the power strip, the power will drop below its highest level. If not, it could be very dangerous. Now let’s look at all the things that you shouldn’t plug into a power strip.

1. THE COOKER
The oven is without a doubt one of the tools that uses the most electricity. You should never plug it into a power strip, even if you don’t use it very often.

To avoid the chance of dangerous overheating, it is better to give each person their own wall outlet.

2. THE FRIDGE

I already know what you’re going to say. This is not true: the refrigerator is not the device that uses the most electricity. We tell ourselves it’s good because it doesn’t use a lot of energy.

It works fine when put into an extension cord. Not at all! Don’t forget that a refrigerator works with electricity that is sent to the power strip 24 hours a day. You forgot to plug this kind of device into an extension cord. Then I’ll talk about refrigerators, but this also applies to freezers.

3. THE LAUNDRY MACHINE
About 1150 kWh of electricity are used by a washing machine every year. Based on this, the gadget uses a lot of power and shouldn’t be put on a power strip at all.

If you plug the washing machine into a wall source, the extension cord won’t have to worry about short circuiting or getting too hot. The same goes for dryers. You shouldn’t leave them plugged into a power strip because they use too much power.

4. BEAUTY HEATING
There’s no reason not to use it, but remember to plug it straight into the wall. Never on an extension cord, because this thing quickly blows out the power strip.

5. ANOTHER OWNER
Don’t think that this little metal box doesn’t use any power. About 70 kWh of electricity can be used by a microwave every year. It’s not nothing, you see. Because of this, you shouldn’t connect it to an extension line.

6. THE PERSON WHO MAKES COFFEE
You might think that a small machine like a coffee maker doesn’t use any power. In fact, it uses a lot of electricity—about 165 kWh per year, to be exact. Connect this thing to a wall jack.
