Lamar Odom’s Baby Mama Reveals She Owes $83,000 In Back Rent and Children In Danger Of Homelessness, Blames Lamar Odom For Failing To Pay Child Support
Lamar Odom’s life just got a bit more complicated. Following news that his life is about to play out in front of Love and Hip Hop cameras in the upcoming season, a judge has now given him the “deadbeat” title after a lawsuit was filed by his ex and the mother of his children, Liza Morales.
Lamar and Liza were the parents to three children named Destiny, Lamar Jr., and Jayden. Unfortunately at the age of 6 and a half months, baby Jayden passed away suddenly from SIDS. According to an article by PEOPLE, the passing of Jayden started the beginning of the end of their relationship, as well as a string of personal issues for both her and Lamar.
“It’s all connected,” she told PEOPLE. “I lost myself in trying to co-parent with an addict, trying to guide my kids through the trauma of losing their sibling, of dealing with a father who’s an addict and the constant headlines.”
Morales also stated that while she still has love for Odom, that love is from a distance. “You cannot change somebody, you cannot pray away their addiction,” said Morales. “I wish Lamar the best, but I can no longer force somebody to work on themselves.”The relationship between the two has seemingly soured, however, as last month a lawsuit was filed in the Manhattan Supreme Court by Morales which claims that the former NBA player is very delinquent on child support payments.
As per their 2015 custody agreement, he is to pay $6,000 per month for child support, which does not include fees for college.
“In June 2020, Lamar stopped providing any support save for sporadic amounts sent directly to LJ, placing their son in a very difficult situation,” a civil complaint from Morales reads, as reported by Page Six. Atop her building woes, Morales also claims in the lawsuit that she and their children are being evicted from their Manhattan apartment as a result of the lack of child support payments received and nearly $83,000 in back rent.Recently, Odom participated as a celebrity boxing match versus Aaron Carter, a feat which earned him a reported $40k payday. According to Morales’ lawyer, Abraham Borenstein, she is owed a whopping $91,000 in back child support.
“There is an enormous amount of money involved and Ms. Morales is being unfairly prejudiced by the failure [of Odom] to comply with the agreement,” said Borenstein, as reported by Page Six.
In a recent court hearing, a Manhattan Supreme Court Judge by the name of Matthew Cooper shared his disdain for Odom, who reportedly did not appear to the hearing. “If Mr. Odom is in good enough shape to participate in a boxing match, he’s certainly in good enough shape to abide by his obligations to support his children as set forth in the settlement agreement,” Page Six reports that Cooper stated.
Elsewhere. Cooper added: “I will just offer the observation that if Mr. Odom wants to have a brand that means anything, it should be one where the person behind the brand pays to support his children and doesn’t leave his children in danger of being evicted.”
A reportedly emotional Morales also shared that she, as well as their son, continues to deal with depression while the whole ordeal is stressing the family out. Calling the situation “overwhelming”, a tearful Morales claimed via video, “He is definitely making income. He just got a check for that boxing match. He is doing a lot of things regarding his brand. He has a CBD company that he works with.”
Lamar may not have attended the virtual hearing, but he sure did have a lot to say on the matter. Taking to Instagram, Odom offered a lengthy message to address the claims made from Morales, whom he admits has blocked him on social media.
“I never air out my personal business because it’s personal but I have had enough,” he said after calling the news “BS.” Sharing a screenshot of a news headline about the Judge “ripping” him apart for “skipping out on child support”, he went on to say, “I was never married to my kids mother. I took care of her from the second she became pregnant and even after I was married I still paid her bills.”
“I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE for a GROWN A** WOMAN,” he continued. “Once my children became adults my duties were done! I told her to GO TO WORK! MOVE into an affordable home, she didn’t listen and that is NOT on ME! The news, the media, the public loves to vilify a man, call him deadbeat, say how terrible he is as a man but what about a woman who refuses to get off her a** and make a living for herself? She is just as responsible for taking care of our now ADULT children as I was so why isn’t she held to the same standard?”
Obviously having had enough, Odom denies that he is the owner of a CBD company as Morales has claimed, and reveals that his pension from the NBA does not arrive until he reaches 46. Odom also denies receiving a $40,000 payout for his boxing match.
Odom adds that he is actively working and sends his children monthly, however, refuses to support Liza. “And I shouldn’t be made to either! So I will have my day in court,” he wrote. “I was never served papers to appear and I will be filing an injunction to this bitter Judges order.”
Finally, the former NBA player salutes mothers and fathers who take care of their children, while also saluting those fathers who receive “no credit” for their duties. He concluded his message by singling out those women who mirror the alleged character of his ex. “To the Liza’s who sit on their a***s and expect a handout, who lie and manipulate their children, who use their children as pawns, who creates stories and scenarios to attract attention, may you seek healing and counseling for your brokenness ~ you need it.”
