Karrine “Superhead” Steffans is a legend in the hip-hop community. The former video vixen has been a staple in some of our favorite artist’s bedrooms and turned her stories into a best-selling book. Now, she is writing a new chapter in her life under a new name with a new man and a new baby on the way. Let’s take a look at Steffans’s announcement as her suspected new baby daddy.
Karrine Steffans got her start in the golden era of hip-hop music videos. At the time, a 17-year-old Steffans had found refuge in the home of rapper Kool G Rap, with whom she shares a son. He got her into video modeling, and by 2000 she was featured in Jay-Z’s “Hey Papi” video. Steffans began capitalizing on her proximity to powerful men and using her beauty to build an empire. At her prime, Steffans had her pick of some of the most successful men in the music industry and was even featured in a segment of the Oprah Winfrey show discussing her exploits. By 2005 she had turned her life story into a memoir, Confessions of a Video Vixen.
In the years since, Steffans has continued to use her story to inspire others, while celebrities use their stories with her to score Vlad TV interviews. Amongst her past lovers are Bow Wow, Irv Gotti, Columbus Short, Darius McCrary, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and Ne-Yo.
Determined to be taken more seriously, Steffans went through a rebranding. She now goes by Elisabeth Ovesen, and her IG credits her as a “3x NYT Bestselling Author | Senior Copywriter & Creative Director at OVCO.” Her bio says she has been a keynote speaker for years now, frequenting different universities and panels. She sold the film rights to her books to Fox Television Studios and enjoys a life as a branding specialist.
Steffans has also taught classes, and on her, IG is a clip of her from April guest lecturing at a biology class at California State Universities Dominguez Hills Campus. The single mother also frequently posts photos of herself and her son, most recently sharing that she took a trip to New York City to dine at Tatiana’s, a restaurant owned by popular chef Kwame Onwuachi. Kwame is also a best-selling author and has become a huge success in his field well before the age of 30.
Sparks must have flown between Kwame and Karrine because on her story earlier today, she shared a photo of a pregnancy test with the caption, “I can’t get enough of these nails. (And the best Christmas gift ever) Thank you, @ChefKwameOnwuachi.” Over on her post, she also shared, “Thank you, @chefkwameonwuachi, for the most exciting, most terrifying gift. I don’t know what comes next, but I know I can’t do it without you.”
Fans immediately congratulated her in the comments saying, “God places his seeds where he knows they can grow. He’s given you the ultimate responsibility because he believes in you.” Kwame has yet to post about the good news.
