Lauren London’s legacy has undergone a significant transformation since the tragic loss of her partner, Nipsey Hussle. The beloved actress has emerged as a symbol of hope for fans who admire her strength and resilience in the face of his passing. London’s journey has not been without its challenges, and she has openly shared the difficulties she’s encountered. Now, she must navigate another significant loss as she bids farewell to Nipsey’s grandmother.
During her appearance on In Real Life with Angie Martinez, Lauren London shared the unvarnished reality of her grieving process following Nipsey’s passing. She candidly admitted to initially lacking the will to continue, spending an extended period steeped in deep depression and sorrow. It was her love for her children that ultimately served as a catalyst for pulling herself together, although she grappled with finding meaning in it all. Instead of withdrawing, she discovered love and purpose within her family and her circle of support.
Lauren expressed her gratitude to those who stood by her side and provided encouragement during her darkest moments. She acknowledged, “I can honestly say God was carrying me through that. That wasn’t me; that was all God.” She specifically thanked Sean Combs for encouraging her to present a brave facade while remaining authentic at Nipsey’s funeral. He told her, “You’ve already shown everyone what it means to stand by a man and love him; now show them how to cope when it all falls apart.” Lauren disclosed her desire to leave Los Angeles but also recognized the importance of remaining for the sake of her family and the people who were supporting them.
In her efforts to display strength, Lauren has actively participated in various projects aimed at commemorating her late partner and preserving his legacy and contributions before his passing. Among these projects is a YouTube documentary titled “The Marathon Cultivation.” In a post from May, she mentioned, “We will be holding a grand opening for the inaugural The Marathon (Collective) flagship dispensary on Saturday, June 18th.” Additionally, she frequently shares posts to promote Nipsey’s Marathon clothing line, his music, and more. Her most recent post about him was in celebration of his birthday in August.
Lauren London harnessed her inner strength to support both her family and Nipsey’s family as they coped with their most recent significant loss, that of Nipsey’s grandmother, Margaret Boutte. Boutte had played a crucial role in raising Nipsey and his siblings. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Lauren paid tribute to the family matriarch alongside Nipsey’s sister, Samantha Smith. She shared a touching image of Granny Gran embracing herself, gazing toward the heavens, and wrote, “Forever Honored. Granny Gran 💙🙏🏽.” Smith also posted an image of Nipsey and their grandmother with the caption, “My Angels 🤍.”
Speaking about the loss of Nipsey in 2019, his grandmother expressed that he was the “love of her life” and always remarkably respectful. She added, “I thank my daughter for blessing me with Nipsey and [his siblings] Sami and Samantha. I love you all. He will never be gone in my heart. He lives forever.” Nipsey held deep affection for his grandmother, and he even mentioned her in his song “Higher,” recounting her journey into motherhood alongside his uncle and mother.
Margaret Boutte was 92 years old. Back in August, Margaret was presented with Nipsey Hussle’s Hollywood Walk of Fame.
