Tristan Thompson says he will never be a part of Maralee Nichols‘ son’s life, but he will contribute to their child financially.
Thompson fathered Theo with the personal trainer during a night of passion in early 2021. She gave birth to her first child, and his fourth, in December 2021.
“She’s truly focused on raising Theo,” a source told Us Weekly, adding that the 31-year-old fitness trainer is “navigating motherhood as a single mom.”
An attorney for Thompson told Page Six on Wednesday that the NBA free agent “is paying, and has paid, child support to Ms. Nichols retroactive to the date she delivered the child” on Dec. 1.
But since then, he has made no effort to be a part of the boy’s life.
Earlier this year, a rep for Nichols said Thompson had “done nothing” for Theo and provided zero “financial assistance,” for the boy.
However, Thompson has since caught up on his monthly child support checks. But that’s as far as he’s willing to go for his child.
“Tristan has still made no attempt to meet his 8-month-old son, Theo,” a told Page Six insider reveals. “It was not until recently that Tristan started paying child support.”
Nichols filed a paternity lawsuit against Thompson, 31, claiming he impregnated her in a Texas hotel room during his 30th birthday weekend in March 2021.
At the time, he was still romantically involved with Khloé Kardashian, but they have since parted ways. The former couple recently welcomed a son via a surrogate. They are already parents to 4-year-old daughter, True Thompson.
