Da Brat is currently married to a woman, but the rapper-turned-reality star has more public history with men. Despite always sporting a tomboy image, Brat’s beautiful face kept men intrigued, and some of her suitors went really hard to court her back in the day. She recently sat down with Kandi Burress to discuss a number of topics, including the famous men from her past, like Allen Iverson and Kirk Frost.
Da Brat says that she always kept her sexuality to herself because she feared embarrassing her family. Her grandmother was a holy woman who raised her in church. Brat said that while her immediate family knew, like her mom and best friends, she feared her grandmother finding out and facing scrutiny from her church. “Back there, it wasn’t as ok as it is now. Ellen lost her jobs and all types of stuff happened. I wouldn’t a came out then because my grandmother was still alive. I had a sanctified grandmother. I was living for everybody else.”
Da Brat says that she lived inside of her bubble and dated men publicly while entertaining women in private. One of the men she dated seriously was Allen Iverson. Da Brat remembers getting up every morning and picking out his clothes, cooking for him, and keeping their house clean. She enjoyed being his girlfriend and said the two kept each other very happy. She took care of him, and in return, he spoiled her.
Unfortunately, his basketball lifestyle was a lot for Brat, and she learned quickly that she was not the only one. “I think basketball players? Hoes. He had a baby mama and some kids. He had a lot of stuff going on. So it lasted for a good while.” Her grandmothers also approved of him, and Brat thought he would be the one, but Allen had too many women on the side and could not stay faithful.
Da Brat is a reality star now and was almost tied up with another famous reality star long before they both got into television. Kirt Frost has been with Rasheeda for years, and their union has been well-documented on Love & Hip-Hop. Around the time Da Brat was dating her first girlfriend, a pre-Rasheed Kirk tried to court her.
Brat and Kandi laughed about the experience as Kandi recalled being there the evening Kirk approached Brat. The ladies recall being really young and hanging out at a club. Kirk approached Brat and handed her 20 $100 bills with his name and number on the front and back of them. Da Brat says she was floored by the gesture as Kirk tried to get her to go on a date with him.
“Oh my God what am I supposed to do!?” she said, laughing. Da Brat said he fully got her attention, and she hit him back the very next day. “We going to eat or something!” she said. He brought her a Lincoln Navigator, but then things fizzled out as got serious with his now wife.
