On the morning of March 16th, twins Locklyn and Loreli Callazzo drowned in a backyard swimming pool of their home. The incident took place when their mother, Jenny Callazzo was home-schooling her older child. The Oklahoma City Fire battalion chief, Scott Douglas stated, “The mother explained she was homeschooling an older child while the younger children were playing in the living room. The grandmother left the back door open, leaving an exit to the swimming pool. The mother stated the longest they could have been in the swimming pool was ten minutes”. However, after retrieving their bodies from the pool, resuscitation was performed on the children, but all the attempts went in vain. They were then taken to the hospital, where the 18-month-old siblings were pronounced dead. The swimming mishap not just left the Callazzo family in grief, but the news also rendered social media in pain.

I hate reading this. I am so sorry for this family to have to endure this tragedy. I cannot imagine May God comfort and carry you all through this, in Jesus name

You gotta watch them like a hawk, it only takes a couple minutes….so very sad. From a young age you gotta teach them to love water but also to fear it. Pool should have been more secured and so should these babies. I couldn’t live with myself if this happened to my kids

Some even urged everyone to add fencing around their pools. One mentioned, “Omg please watch your children and block all possible entrances to your pools people! So heartbreaking and preventable! Prayers lifted for this heartbroken family!”. Another penned, “Sad, I immediately had a pool fence with 2 locking gates when I decided to have above pool and our daughter was 2yo. You really need to abide by those rules to be sure no one can access the pool. Such a tragedy”.Clearly, the brutal swimming mishap calls for stringent safety protocols around the pools, as a failure in doing so ended up taking the precious lives of 18-month-old twins. It indeed was a heart-wrenching episode and efforts to make pools and swimming safe for youngsters take on a crucial role. Tragedies such as this make the need for more efforts like this apparent.
