Selena Gomez Says She Does Not Want To Glorify Beauty Standards As She Embraces Her Body Shape: ‘I Am Perfect The Way I Am’

Here is the journey of Selena Gomez and how she has embraced her body shape

Instagram has forced people to reassess their beauty standards and has put unrealistic pressure on young girls and boys to achieve unrealistic body standards.

However, know that you are not alone if you feel down and insecure when you look at these beautiful models and influencers on the social media platform with flawless skins and perfect body weights.

Even celebrities, according to actress and singer Selena Gomez, struggle with the emotions of not fitting into impossible expectations.

It all started with an album cover

Selena Gomez has been quite vocal about the bizarre approval that she has received for the cover of her album Revival in 2015.

The singer shared that things got so bad for her that she had to seek therapy to recover mentally.

“I fluctuate in my weight a lot”

Selena has also been vocal about her struggle with lupus and kidney transplant which have affected her overall health, weight, and her mental wellbeing.

When she released her new make-up line, ’Rare Beauty,’ she said in her interview with Cosmopolitan in 2020 “I fluctuate in my weight a lot,” then added that she had to learn to have thick skin at a pretty early stage in her life.

“I am happier, I am more present, I connect more with people”

Finally, after years ad years of struggles, Selena decided to go offline. This has been the case since 2017.

Back in 2019 in her interview at the Cannes Film Festival Selena shared how scary social media can be, the celebrity says, “I am happier, I am more present, I connect more with people.” She also spoke to Good Morning America about how stepping away from the internet changed her life.

Selena Gomez loves fast food

On her TikTok stories, which was then shared on her largest Instagram fan account, Selena revealed her order from Jack in the Box, which was, “So I be trying to stay skinny, but I went to Jack in the Box and I got 4 tacos, 3 egg rolls, onion rings, and a spicy chicken sandwich.”

Then she continued, But honestly, I don’t care about my weight…” And ended the video with, “I am perfect the way I am.”

Selena’s advice to her fans is to filter what we get exposed to

Selena requests her fans to be honest and intentional with what they focus their lives on and asks her fans to remove themselves from all those fake, unrealistic image standards.

She reminds her fans: “Being vulnerable is a strength, not a weakness.”

Well, coping with unrealistic body standards is not easy at all but one can try to follow Selena’s advice and detoxify themselves from these social media pages that set these bizarre standards that are not only impossible but also detrimental to our mental health.
