Comedian Sinbad Hopeful He Will Walk Again Following Stroke

Fans of comedian Sinbad are rooting for his recovery after a life-changing stroke in 2020. The actor and his family have been keeping fans updated on social media, and the latest one has many people hoping to see him strutting back up on a stage soon.

In 2020, Sinbad suffered a stroke that left him in a medically induced coma and hooked up to a ventilator. Despite only a 30% survival rate, the 66-year-old Michigan native has continued to fight for his life. With the aid of his wife, Meredith Fuller, and their children, he has been on the road to recovery and keeping fans up to date on the ride through his personal blog. “His progress is nothing short of remarkable,” they said in a post from 2022. “Limbs that were said to be ‘dead’ are coming alive, and he’s taking the steps necessary to learn to walk again.”

In November, they shared a photo of an unrecognizable Sinbad standing with the help of a walker and nurse. “Sinbad appreciates all the love and support you have shown him over the last two years,” the caption said. His family directed people to his personal blog for updates and the opportunity to give if they wanted to donate money. The medical bills have been piling up and he’s been unable to work ever since. On the site, they clarify exactly what happened to Sinbad, revealing that he had an “ischemic stroke as a result of a blood clot that traveled from his heart to his brain.”

Following the removal of the initial blood clot, a second one formed. After that one was removed, brain swelling followed, and eventually, doctors found a “bleed” in his skull and had to put him in ICU. It would be months before he was able to return home. Despite the odds against him, he continues to fight. They quoted him on the site saying, “I am not done. I will not stop fighting until I can walk across the stage again.”

His son and daughter last updated his fans in 2020 and let them know that their father had been receiving their well wishes and was thankful for all of the support. After launching his site in November, his page has not been updated. They also shared a lengthy message from their father, who expressed his gratitude to the healthcare workers and all they were doing to help people like himself in addition to still being present during the thick of the global pandemic.

His son is active in Hollywood, and one of his last posts of his father was an interview about his iconic film Jingle All The Way. In the caption, he says, “Happy birthday, Dad! Love you, and hopefully, we can get back to doing these @blerdempire podcasts again in the future! 🙏🏽❤️.”

Sinbad and his family have not given much update since, but it is clear the goal is to get him back to full health and on his feet. His parting message in his last post read, “Stay funky, stay blessed.”
