Former NFL cornerback Vontae Davis was found dead by police Monday at his home in South Florida.
Officers were called to the home in Southwest Ranches after a house assistant and found the athlete. Davie Police Department says that at this time, foul play is not involved but that the investigation is active.
Davis was 35.
He played in 121 games during his 10 years with the Miami Dolphins, Colts and Buffalo Bills.
The NFL released a statement following the sad nes.
“The NFL is heartbroken to hear about the passing of Vontae Davis. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones,” they said.
“We are devastated to hear of Vontae Davis’s passing. He was a standout player in his six seasons with the Horseshoe, but he was an even better teammate who carried a smile and positive energy every day. He will be deeply missed, and we send our prayers to his family and loved ones,” a statement from The Colts read.
