His wife, Allison Holker, shares this sentiment and confirms that his passing was completely unexpected. She revealed that her husband exhibited no discernible signs of any underlying issues before taking his own life.
In her first interview since Stephen’s passing, Allison Holker spoke with PEOPLE, shedding light on her complex and mixed emotions. She shared, “He didn’t want people to be aware. He simply wanted to be everyone’s hero and protector,” referring to her late husband.
Holker says that life was so beautiful for them and their children that she has really had to process the shock of it all, much like the rest of the world. “It’s been really hard because I can’t understand what was happening in that moment [when he died],” she reveals.
Despite her own personal battle with it all, Allison wants her husband to be remembered for the love and joy that he brought the world while doing the things he loved most.
Allison Holker has since resumed her presence on social media, sharing images of herself and her family. In a post from March, she conveyed a powerful message, saying, “My dear ones, we possess a strength greater than you can fathom. Together, we will remain resilient as a united front, finding the fortitude to support one another.”
