Cash-strapped Mel B files for child support increase for Eddie Murphy’s daughter

Melanie Brown, aka Mel B, has requested more child support from Eddie Murphy to help her through some financial troubles.

The Spice Girls singer, who is mom to the comedian and actor’s 13-year-old daughter Angel Iris Murphy, has asked for Eddie’s financial records to determine how much more child support she can request.

“Eddie and Melanie have both established careers in the entertainment industry,” her lawyers write in the court documents.

“Melanie is a singer, songwriter and television personality. Eddie is a legendary comedian and actor. Until recently, Melanie has been fortunate in her career to sustain a comfortable lifestyle for herself and Angel. Unfortunately, Melanie’s income has dramatically reduced, such that she must consider modifying child support for the first time.”

Mel B’s lawyer insist she made “numerous efforts to resolve the case without court intervention,” adding, “Melanie was left with no choice but to file this.”

According to court records, Murphy, 59, previously agreed to pay Mel $25,000 -a-month in child support, as well as cover Angel’s health insurance and her educational costs.

Angel (far right) is one of Eddie’s nine kids, who range in age from 22 months to 31.

Mel B, 45, has two other daughters: Madison, 9 (2nd from left), and Phoenix Brown, 21 (left), and a stepdaughter Giselle Belafonte, 16 (2nd from right).
