According to Omari, he approached his role as Ghost by portraying a man slowly descending into narcissism. This method allowed him to bring depth and consistency to the character throughout the series. When the subject of his on-screen wife, Tasha, was broached, Omari expressed the belief that Tasha’s character lacked genuine passion for Ghost. He considered his biggest mistake to be staying with her.
Omari vividly recalled a moment when Ghost asked Tasha, “Do you ever see me as more?” He asserted that she did not want him to reach his full potential, both personally and professionally. Omari emphasized that this lack of passion extended to their intimate moments, as they were not fully engaged in every aspect of each other’s passions. He maintained that the character of Ghost saw potential in Tasha but felt she did not want that for him. In Ghost’s eyes, he was the more supportive partner when compared to Tasha and Tommy.
Omari also raised the question of whether people would have noticed Tasha’s flaws more readily if Ghost’s mistress were of the same race as his wife. This thought-provoking question left Jemele Hill momentarily speechless.
