Trinity Rodman, the 19-year-old daughter of NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the highest-paid player in the history of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). After winning the Rookie of the Year award in 2021, she secured a lucrative contract extension with the Washington Spirit.
Under her new contract extension, Trinity Rodman will receive a four-year deal worth $1.1 million, a significant increase from her previous three-year contract, which paid her a net salary of $42,000 to play in the NWSL. Additionally, she has the option to extend her contract with the 2024 NWSL Champion team until 2025, earning an annual salary of $281,000. This places her ahead of established United States women’s national team stars like Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe, who earn $250,000 annually.
Trinity Rodman made a name for herself in the soccer world by enjoying a highly successful season, which led to her being selected as the youngest player in the first round of the NWSL draft in January 2021. She not only secured the Rookie of the Year title but also received the Young Player of the Year award from US Soccer. Furthermore, she was the sole player from her team to be invited to the US Women’s National Team training camp.
As she continues to shine on the US Women’s National Team, Trinity Rodman is often compared to other soccer superstars, like Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe, who have earned substantial contracts throughout their careers. While Morgan and Rapinoe earn $250,000 annually, many anticipate that Trinity will reach similar heights and become a star for the USWNT.
Trinity Rodman’s father, Dennis Rodman, known as “The Worm,” enjoyed an illustrious career in the NBA. He won five NBA titles, earned NBA All-Star team honors twice, was a two-time recipient of the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award, and spent eight seasons as a member of the NBA All-Defensive Team. In 2011, Dennis Rodman was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, and in 2022, he became a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary team.
