Kelly Clarkson Says It’s ‘Really Cool’ Her Kids Can Express Their Emotions: ‘They’re So Advanced’

Kelly Clarkson is in awe of her kids’ abilities to express themselves.

While appearing on Audacy’s annual I’m Listening mental health broadcast, the “Because of You” singer, 41, spoke about how well her kids can communicate their emotions.

“I think it’s just a really cool thing that my little girl or little boy will walk in the room and be like, ‘Look, I’m feeling hurt right now, or this hurts my feelings,’ ” Clarkson said.

“Things they do, I never did as a kid, and they’re just so advanced for where I was at their age, and I just think there’s nothing more beautiful than someone learning at a very young age how to express themselves and to actually pay attention to how they’re feeling.”

Clarkson shares her daughter River Rose, 9, and her son Remington “Remy” Alexander, 7, with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, who she divorced in 2020 after seven years of marriage.

In August, the singer brought her two kids onstage with her during her Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood. Ahead of the performance, Clarkson shared a sweet picture of her kids smiling in an embrace on Instagram.

“Both of my kiddos backstage getting ready to join me on stage in Vegas ❤️ nothing will ever be as cool and amazing as these two little humans that will always have my whole heart,” she wrote.

During the show, Clarkson explained to the audience in a fan-recorded TikTok video, “My son is 7 years old. He picked the coolest song for a dude to pick. I was like, ‘He was destined for greatness just for loving this song alone.'”

She then welcomed “Remy B” onstage with her, yelling out, “Come on, buddy!” prompting him to run out and give his mom a giant hug.

She also brought her daughter out later in the evening to sing a duet.

Earlier this summer, the American Idol alum appeared on the Podcrushed podcast and shared that her kids have shared questions and concerns about love.

Clarkson admitted that son Remy and River Rose have asked, “So you don’t love daddy anymore?”

The singer said she assured her kids that she does love their father.

“I love that Daddy gave me you two. We just don’t like each other like we did. It’s just different now,” she recalled telling them.
